Md. Tazkin Ahmed is the current mayor of Satkhira Municipality, after being elected in November 2015. He is also the chairman of Kashem Group, Bangladesh since 1993. As a successful businessman, he is also a member of Satkhira Chember of Commerce since 1992. He is also involved in social activities. He is the former director of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Satkhira Unit. In 2006 he participated in International Red Crescent Day, in Singapore. He also participated in international youth convention, chaina, guangzhou. He is a member of Satkhira Press Club.
As a City Mayor of Satkhira Municipality (A class municipality, established in 1869, located in the south-western part in Bangladesh) he always focuses on sustainable and climate resilient development. He and his governing body always prioritize and assess needs of urban services through participatory approaches involving citizen. He believes in integrated development in coordination with GO-NGOs, public private partnership and better integration of local and national development planning. As a young, dynamic and educated person he initiated to serve quality urban services to the city dwellers with municipality’s limited revenue concerning his development plan. Though Satkhira Municipality is the most climate vulnerable coastal area his hope to make Climate Resilient Satkhira city.
